John is a business man who has lived in Norfolk for 40 years. He’s married to Jill and has 2 grown up sons. Jill was well known in Costessy & Taverham for her many years service as a NHS health visitor.
He has experience of delivering large and small-scale projects on-time and to budget. He is regarded as ‘a safe pair of hands’ by those who’ve worked with him. John was one of the authors of the business plan that gained the £26m government grant to kick-start the expansion of the Norwich Research Park.
John’s enjoys assisting small businesses to thrive; providing quality education for every child; and improving local transport links. John is a Trustee of the Excelsior Trust providing sailing opportunities for underprivileged children and young adults. He’s passionate about grass roots sport, particularly local rugby.
John's County Council Priorities:
Point 1
John plans to work with the council on their adopted environment policy, including:
- Plans to plant one million trees over five years, working with partners, communities and landowners
- A £1.5m investment in active travel, including cycling and walking
Point 2
John supports carbon reduction, and will continue to support the rolling out of 15,000 main road streetlights across Norfolk, this is the next step in a successful scheme that has already seen CO2 emissions cut by 1,200 tonnes.
Point 3
John supports the investing in developing the county schools, so children get to learn in modern classrooms with modern facilities and feel good in their environment and will support in the expansion of Costessey Ormiston Victory Academy to 1,800 pupils.
Point 4
John will support the building of the NDR Western Link, as it will help support local jobs and local traders. Norfolk needs the long-term infrastructure which is developed in a way what minimises damage to the environment and supports 21st century patterns of work and ways of living.
