Norwich Conservatives have welcomed the findings of Sir Thomas Legg’s audit on MP’s expenses which calls on 389 MPs to repay the taxpayer for claims totalling over £1.1 million.
Antony Little, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Norwich South, stated: “I believe it is essential that all MPs pay back the amounts recommended. If they refuse to do so, the money should be taken directly from their salaries.”
“However, this must only be the beginning of much needed broader reform of our politics which includes cutting the size of the House of Commons, cutting Ministers’ pay, and having complete transparency on all expenses.”
“I have made honesty a big part of my campaign to become our next MP in Norwich South. I am the only serious candidate to set out exactly how I would behave if elected. For example, I have pledged to claim less in total year-on-year for each year I am in Parliament – costing you less each year I am elected and that I will not claim for food, furniture or anything not related to the job of an MP."
