Campaigners have renewed their call for CCTV to be extended into the Clover Hill village centre, taking in Waldergrave and Humbleyard too. The call has won the backing of the police, as well as Conservative Councillors and campaigners.
Bowthorpe Campaigner Niki George has said, “recent problems have highlighted how much crime and anti-social behaviour there is around the Clover Hill village centre. It has become clear to a lot of people that we now need CCTV to allow the wardens and police a better chance of catching those people who disturb our lives.”
Conservative Councillors Antony Little and John Wyatt have now launched a petition to ask Norwich City Council to take the lead and install CCTV.
Antony met local people to discuss the issue and he said: “We are planning to take this issue to the council and show them the strength of local feeling. We want to put forward a big petition to demonstrate how much we feel that CCTV is needed.
Cllr Little, Niki George and the Conservative team will be knocking on doors this weekend to raise the petition, which they hope to submit to council by September.
